Perhaps you missed something in the instructions, and as a result, also in the process of creating your USB flash drive stick. It worked perfectly, just as I described, see screen shots below. So, After your reply, I decided to create a "Persistent" USB flash drive stick of Linux Mint Mate version 18 with a "Persistent" space greater than 4gb. I have not yet tried this with any edition of Linux Mint 18. I then rebooted again to make sure the changes that I made and the settings were retained. Then, I just rebooted to the newly created USB flash drive stick of Linux Mint Cinnamon v17.3 and updated the internet connection with my password, added a couple programs from Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM), brought up the file manager which showed the space was greater than 4gb. I also used "ext4" for a file system format of the "casper-rw" partition. I used a bootable CD of the great "gParted Live" partition manager to perform the disk partition routines from the instructions in the link, because my current Linux Mint Partition Manager kept remembering the previous state of this flash drive and would not let me change the USB partition for some reason. Do not forget to delete the "casper-rw" file first from the USB flash drive stick. Step 2: These instructions are from the link below. If you want more persistent space than 4gb, and your flash drive has the space, continue to step 2. If you do not want any more persistent space than 4gb, you are done, exit the MultiSystem program and reboot to try it. Then you can add more OS's, if you want, but only one can have "persistence". Tip2: If you want "persistence" for a particular Operating System (OS) on this USB stick, then after putting an operating system on the stick, click the MSLM menu options, and select "persistence", and follow the instructions. Tip1: You must format the USB stick with the "fat32" format, and give it a volume name, before using this program not just the default "USB STICK" that the Mint USB Stick Formatter shows, that is not a volume name, so change it to something else. To install this using the PPA method, open a console terminal, type in, or copy & paste, each line below one by one: Need is an Internet connection(at the time of MultiSystem installation only), and a sufficient size of a USB drive depending upon the number of distributions you want to include in that USB drive. Using this utility, we can create any number of bootable Linux distributions in a USB drive. batch)įor those who don’t know, "MultiSystem" is a small, Open Source freeware to create a multiboot usb drives from Linux systems. Im new to linux but i know how to use desktop settings and open terminal(i have made scripts and games on windows. Q:any workaround if unpossible to install apps on the free unused memmory on the usb?
